Mississippi College Dome Repairs - AE Wood Coliseum

Mississippi College worked with CDFL Architects and WJE Engineers, Architects and Materials Scientist to design the repairs and renovations to the AE Wood Cliseum on MC's campus in Clinton, MS.  Probity Contracting Group was contracted to be the Construction Manager for the renovations.

The exterior work of the project consisted of cutting out and replacing all the sealant on the exterior of the dome as well as replacing damaged struts that were noted by a review of the structure from the project engineers.

The interior renovations consisted of adding a new suspended acoustical ceiling panel system designed specifically for this Dome structure to utilize the existing nodes as anchor points for the ceiling support.  The panels consisted of triangular metal frames that anchored at three points with a lay in fabric faced insulation board.  In addition to the suspended ceiling system the project also consisted of updating the lighting system to LED fixtures as well as cosmetic updates of new sheetrock and ceiling tile to the mezzanines that suppor the lighting platforms.

Design for this project started in March 2016.  Probity Contracting Group was granted access to the interior of the Dome on May 9th, 2016 with a completion date of August 1, 2016.  The contractor was able to complete the interior portion of the project within the three-month period with exterior sealant work completing in October of 2016.
